Sanhok Loot Trucks Return in PUBG Update 33.2 With Recall and Aim Punch Changes

PUBG Update 33.2 revamps Sanhok with the Loot Truck and Recall system, offering thrilling risk-reward gameplay for squads.

When PUBG's Update 33.2 rolled out, it brought a serious dose of nostalgia back to Sanhok. The Loot Truck, which originally debuted on Sanhok four years before this patch, has returned with a new look and a familiar risk-versus-reward loop. Players who like early fights will find plenty to love, but the real winners are the squads that know when to push for the big payout and when to keep their heads on a swivel.

For Update 33.2, PC maintenance landed on January 15 from 00:00 to 08:30 UTC, while console players waited until January 23 from 01:00 to 09:00 UTC. Times are always subject to change, so treat those as a guideline rather than gospel. PC players can anticipate the next rotation every Wednesday at 02:00 UTC, while console players can expect the same every Thursday at 07:00 UTC.

During Week 1, Sanhok is selectable in all regions and offers the same party types and perspectives as a Normal Match. The rotation math can get a little wild. When Deston is in the mix, each map in that featured rotation has a 20% probability. Week 3 shifts the odds again with fixed and favored maps at 22% each and the rest at 11% each. The standard lineup is Erangel at 25%, Miramar at 25%, Taego at 20%, Rondo at 20%, and Deston at 10%. Ranked map service still updates on a season-by-season basis.

🚛 The Loot Truck is Back

The Loot Truck gives players an extra way to loot up. Four Loot Trucks spawn at designated locations after each match begins and follow predetermined routes. They can be damaged or destroyed with weapons and throwables. As they take hits, they drop small or large lootable containers, which means even a quick drive-by can produce some decent spoils. When a truck is destroyed, it explodes with enough force to deal significant damage within a 10-meter radius, then opens its cargo hold. The mode is available in Normal Match, Custom Match, and Arcade.

The dev team's comment is clear: destroying the Loot Truck should give a squad enough gear to kit everyone out, and players may find special weapons inside. But there is a catch. The truck has heavy armor and can absorb a lot of punishment, so squads that get too focused on shooting it may not notice another team rolling up. It is basically a rolling piñata with a built-in trap.

🔁 Recall Flights Arrive on Sanhok

Sanhok also gets the Recall system in this update. Recall flights arrive every 2 minutes and 30 seconds, but they stop appearing from Phase 6 onwards. The rule also applies to Custom Match sessions. Some fence shapes have changed in certain areas as well, so players should not expect the exact same pathing they remember from older drops.

🎯 Gunplay Labs: Aim Punch

The enhanced aim punch system is now live in the Arcade under Gunplay Labs: Aim Punch. This lab runs on Erangel with TPP only and squad only. Firearm spawn rates are increased, and a faster-paced Blue Zone keeps the tempo high. Players should note that Arcade Points are not granted for these lab sessions.

Improved aim punch mechanics were applied across all firearms, with different levels depending on weapon category:

  • SRs

  • Shotguns / SMGs

  • ARs / LMGs / DMRs

  • Other weapons, including handguns and crossbows

The dev team says the updated aim punch values reflect each weapon category's traits and current balance. The lab gives players an early look at changes planned for all modes later, but the final numbers may be tweaked based on data and survey feedback. A SurveyMonkey link was shared for players who want to chime in, so the community's voice matters here.

🎨 Spring Fest Crafting and Cosmetics

A new Crafter Pass was prepared for the first festival of the year, with more details in the Spring Fest announcement. New Progressive weapon skins and Chromas are craftable only through Special Crafting at the Workshop. The Special Crafting tab has separate closing dates for PC and console, so players should spend those tokens before the window slams shut.

🖼️ Mastery Medal UI Upgrades

Mastery Medal UI got a quality-of-life pass. On the Career - Medals page, the number of owned medals is shown by tier, and each medal description includes the percentage of players who own it. The Edit Profile button moved to the bottom-left corner. On Career - Overview, the Last Medal Earned section has been replaced with a full Medals section. PC players can also view medal names and descriptions on the End of Match screen.

🧰 Other Additions and Bug Fixes

Other additions include Hot Drop mode, a new lobby music track called New Year 2025, and some menu adjustments. Brightness in Settings - Graphics - Basic now only affects the gameplay environment, not the lobby. The entire lobby brightness is unified across menu screens. Players who own a Panzerfaust skin will see a new Panzerfaust tab under Customize - Weapons - Skins. The Brightness setting description was updated, and Lobby Pose icons now match the Normal Lobby Pose previews.

The patch also cleaned up a laundry list of bugs. Sanhok received fixes for collision, texture, performance, and general map issues. Characters should no longer get stuck on a specific cliff, and the C4 explosion sound in Sanhok now behaves correctly. There were also fixes for destroyed walls or floors colliding with characters. Firearms can no longer be used while riding a Zipline or Ascender, and revive animations now cancel properly if a teammate dies to the Blue Zone. Other fixes covered Blue Chip icons, item transfer quantities in Arabic settings, Panzerfaust animation bugs, group emote preset issues, clan tag visibility, and a few skin clipping problems. PC players also received fixes for Tactical Pack storage limits, inventory overlaps, and the Reputation Level Up popup.

All in all, Update 33.2 is a throwback with some modern polish. The Loot Truck gives Sanhok a fresh reason to fight, Recall keeps squads from calling it quits too early, and the aim punch lab lets players peek under the hood before future changes arrive. Players who want to make the most of this patch should definitely hit Sanhok early, keep their ears open for that truck engine, and remember that greed is a fast way back to the lobby.
