PUBG Console NewJeans Refund and G-COIN Compensation Plan Explained

PUBG x NewJeans customization restriction forced console players to choose 50% G-COIN compensation or full G-COIN reimbursement with inventory reset.

Players on PlayStation and Xbox who purchased PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache items during a narrow June 2024 window faced a choice that PUBG described as final and irreversible: accept 50% G-COIN compensation while keeping all items, or request a full G-COIN reimbursement and a sweeping inventory reset. According to the console-focused notice, the team had no further plans to restrict additional outfits beyond the 19 already identified. The policy was tied to the PUBG x NewJeans customization restriction that took effect with the #30.2 Update.

Application window and eligibility

The application period ran from July 11, 2024 at 02:00 UTC to August 10, 2024 at 02:00 UTC. The customization restriction itself was applied on July 18, 2024 with Update #30.2. After the system update, the team warned that a surge in applications could cause errors, with processing times possibly delayed. Players who did not receive reimbursement or compensation within three hours were advised to contact the official PlayStation or Xbox support portal.

Eligible players were those who bought any of the following PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache items between the end of the June 20, 2024 update and June 26, 2024 at 15:00 UTC:

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Step 1 Set

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Step 2 Set

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Step 3 Set

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Step 4 Set

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Pack (x1)

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Pack (x11)

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Pack (x27)

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Pack (x55)

Purchases made after June 26, 2024 at 15:00 UTC were not eligible for reimbursement or compensation. Once the live server was updated after July 11, eligible players would see an Apply for reimbursement or compensation button at the bottom left of the lobby.

Two options compared

Option What happened Items Extra reward
Option 1: G-COIN compensation 50% of G-COIN spent on eligible caches was credited automatically Items were not reclaimed None
Option 2: Reimbursement and inventory reset All G-COIN purchases from after June 20 until application were reimbursed All items obtained after June 20 were reclaimed; inventory reset to first login after maintenance 30 Contraband Coupons

Could a player apply for both options? No. The system allowed only one choice, and the decision could not be changed under any circumstances. If a player did not apply within the period, they were automatically enrolled in the G-COIN compensation plan. Until a choice was made, G-COIN purchases remained possible, but store, hideout, and workshop purchases were blocked.

What the inventory reset actually covered

For Option 2, the rollback was not a simple deletion of NewJeans items. PUBG reset the inventory to its state at the first login after the June 20 maintenance. That meant many systems were affected.

System Reset or restoration behavior
Store and collaboration NewJeans Loot Cache items and Emote Packs retrieved; NewJeans crafted items retrieved; purchase counts reset; unavailable items could not be repurchased
Pass Free and Premium Pass retained at most recent level and experience; purchased Survivor Pass changed to purchased state; unused items reissued; rewards reset to unclaimed; G-COIN and level-up item progress not retained; missions reset
Workshop Chest, key, and key fragment results retrieved; used chests and keys reissued; crafted, disassembled, or repurposed items retrieved with currency and materials reissued; crafted keys reverted to fragments
Hideout G-COIN and Contraband Coupon results retrieved with currency reissued; salvaged Schematics and Polymers retrieved and skins reissued; Progressive weapon skin levels reverted; Scraps restored
Events Event progress, reward status, and settings reset; ongoing events could be rejoined only if not ended; NewJeans Stage Custom Lobby reward retrieved
Ranked and account Season 29 Ranked Tier rewards reissued; Season 30 RP and Tier retained; Ranked Play Point preserved; Tier Protection items not restored

On top of that, lobby and preset settings were changed to default, and equipping the PUBG x NewJeans Stage would default the lobby. The lobby automatically reconnected during the inventory reset.

Why was a full rollback necessary?

The notice addressed a technical question: why not remove only the NewJeans Loot Cache items? The answer was that tokens obtained from eligible purchases could be combined with tokens obtained after the eligibility period, making selective removal technically difficult. Therefore, a snapshot rollback was used to facilitate a smooth reimbursement process.

Rules players needed to know

  • Only one option could be selected.

  • The selected option was final and could not be changed.

  • If no selection was made, compensation was automatic.

  • Compensation G-COIN was bonus G-COIN and could not be refunded through the platform.

  • Reimbursed G-COIN used the same denomination as the original G-COIN.

  • Support would not handle NewJeans-related refund assistance after the announcement; platform customer service handled add-ons and platform currency refunds.

For players still holding questions about past platform refunds, official PlayStation and Xbox support portals were the designated contact points. The PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS team apologized again and said it remained committed to avoiding changes to currently available product specifications. In 2026, the NewJeans console compensation program remains a useful case study in how live-service games manage collaboration-related inventory rollbacks.
